FAQ's (very trendy with corporate communications!)

Q. How much is it?
A. Look at the "Costs?" link and then the "Special Offers". The cost is generally between £5 and £7 for the CD production. Unfortunately there are postage or carriage costs which you need to consider too.

Q. How long does it take?
A. It depends what orders I have underway. If an order for 2 LPs is received, and I have no bulk "projects" in progress, turnaround is likely to be between 48 and 72 hours subject to the condition of the original material.

Q. I have a very old record, can you improve the sound?
A. If you want less "background noise" the software used can eliminate some of this. It is also possible to remove significant "pops" that appear in the visible sound file. Bear in mind that any "enhancement" is manipulating what is already there. With a lot of distortion on an original recording there will come a point at which the final "sound" might be compromised. Usually items received that are of sentimental value can be improved whilst retaining some "scratchiness".

Q. Will you accept goods "on approval" prior to agreeing a price?
A. If we have been able to discuss this first (via e-mail or phone) then "Yes"! I would assume that you are looking for feasibilty and then a "price". Received "paid for" orders will be dealt with first, although I would always try and fit "feasibility" around them depending on the circumstances and details.

Q. Is it just you doing the conversions?
A. Yes. I do this around a full time job, other hobbies, family commitments and occasionally go on holiday too!

Q. Could I do this myself and save money?
A. Of course you could. What you will find if you investigate, is that there is a great deal of information available that tells you how to do it. It takes time and patience to end up with decent results and to do it properly you might need to invest in good quality equipment. If you would like advice as to what is involved, just ask.

Q. Can you convert to MP3 or other formats if I don't want a CD?
A. Yes, you can have a "back up" CD returned to you or the files can be e-mailed.

Q. Do you charge extra for cover art on the CD case or CD cases themselves?
A. No, the price we agree is "all inclusive".

Q. You have produced my CDs but I am not happy with the quality, what will you do?
A. Firstly, let me know if it is a specific "noise", playback compatibility or if you are just dissatisfied with the sound. If it is something that can be "fixed" via the sound file I will do that with no additional charge. If you really don't like what has been produced, just return the produced CDs in their cases within 10 days and I will refund (less postage) your payment.

Q. Will you add any more questions to this page?
A. I will endeavour to add all relevent questions to help you decide what you wish to do.
